Raging Heroes Jailbirds - Mimi the Radio

I'm picking up the pace a bit in anticipation of a new round of  Raging Heroes arrivals!  No date yet but seems like I'd better clear the deck while I can!  So... post 2 this week!

Mimi the Radio for the Jailbirds faction.

I like how the flesh turned out here and might have to use this combo more often.  The head is also wonderfully detailed with enormous hoop earrings, big sun glasses, and a headset.

The color density on these is improving as I get a handle on the Secret Weapon Washes.  I've moved most of the GW washes into glaze and light shadow duty while big shading and tinting is being done with Secret Weapon.

I seem to have overlooked the face on the little Beanie Baby hanging from the back!  oops... amazing the things you miss until the photo is staring back at you.

This model is posed in a way that makes it easier to use very busy bases.  the right leg can also be angled to give a couple of 'control' effects to the run over the terrain.

The informal uniforms continue.  The plan is to incorporate several common elements in different ways to end up with a force that looks ragtag and haphazard... but also cohesive... at least to the extent that they all should look like they belong together... the anti uniform.

The Death Marshals for Malifaux 2e are starting with a base texture that will hopefully blend well with all the Tabletop World terrain that they will most likely be spending their game time inhabiting.

Speaking of Tabletop World... a sneak peek of the 'Building of the Week'  next week will be the furniture for use in the Coaching Inn that was this week's 'Tabletop World Building of the Week'.  Perfectly clean as usual!  Primed up and ready to paint.

Bigger than it looks!

This tiny Sisters of Battle Shrine marks the first actual miniature I've painted for the army. To the right you can get a sense of scale... if you look closely you can see the Shrine sitting on top of a box that is filled to bursting with its companions; a collection that has been growing ever since the first miniatures for this army were released.  It will be my UAF (Urban Assault Force) and should be a lot of fun to finally start painting.

This is not an army designed for competitive play.  Oh I'm sure it'll do OK... but its really a fluff army that will usually play in campaigns and other fluff driven environments.  As such the UAF will  be free to include a lot of unusual stuff like a "Sanctioned Unstable Psyker Evaluation Relocation Containment and Transport ", or SUPERCaT, for psychic prisoner transport (Gotta get 'em to the Black Ship somehow!).  SUPERCaT is not actually a combat vehicle but might have combat applications... and should be great scenario fodder.

The first step is to take a full inventory so I can make  some basic decisions like basing scheme and fill in any gaps in needed models.  The shrine is attached to its current base via magnet so I will be able to use it in the Fortress or on the field and can swap the base out for the actual army base theme.

As usual this project will be interspersed with a variety of other work so there will still be Dark Eldar, Orks, and hordes of other stuff showing up along the way.

Some of you will remember the work I did a while back on the Fortress.  Its come a long way since this shot but is currently boxed.  Its about 50% complete.  The bases are cut and most of the interior appointments are painted and awaiting installation.  That'll be another job for the horde of magnets  so I can make the beastie more portable.

This project will include a large amount of non GW details... like the wonderful decorative plates from Scibor, interior details from Atenocities Workshop, and bases from Dragon Forge Designs.

While the fortress itself is conceived of as a Sisters of Battle facility  I'm going to make the Sister specific details cover-able/replaceable with Adeptus Arbites themes so I can use it as a fortified precinct house when the Sisters are out and about.

Of course there is an evil place that all of this leads... the Adversary Force!  That is still a ways down the road but the groundwork is being laid for PDF gone bad...

Books, Bomb Squigs, and Blue Tape

Today sees off the Bomb Squigs and started the interior prep for the Thunderhawk.  Since the model will be lighted I decided to caulk the interior with a paint-able caulk to eliminate light leaks.  Once the caulk is dry I'll spray the interior flat black.  I'm also spraying the interior engine well so the whole model ended up being taped.  The front assault door has been a huge issue.  The hull is not perfectly square and neither is the assault door.  Ultimately I had to set in four (4) pins to compensate for warp.  I elected to align the top of the ramp with the door, set the sides and an even elevation all round.  This left the bottom join slightly out of square but will sit in the position of least visibility.  I may add some flashing to the bottom lip to restore a square appearance

The interiors of the wing assemblies should not require much caulking as the LEDs associated with them are mounted on plugs and should be largely external.  I'll still spray the interiors black just to aid in painting.  Similarly the upper superstructure is separated from the main hull and should get the same treatment as the wings.  Once the caulking is finished I'll start on the cockpit detail.  My initial idea is to start with a land speeder cockpit.  It should get painted,  assembled, and illuminated prior to installing it in the hull.  Prior to affixing the cockpit the lighting harness will have to be installed.

Finally is a shot of the Codex binding for the Arbites Army.  Its a great job and will be fun to work with.

Books and Bugs!

Today the Sister's of Battle fortress Monastery gets another push in the form of an Adeptus Arbites Codex that a good friend has painstakingly assembled and bound up for me!  I'll use this as the basis for my Urban Suppression Army which will form up around Sisters of Battle and Adeptus Arbites.  I've been collecting bits for this for a long time and am anxious to start organizing units!  Of course I'll have to manage my time even better if I want to work on the actual army and still maintain my work schedule for for Geekfest Orks, Project Thunderhawk, and the Golden Demon 2011 submissions.

I also finished up the Venomthrope and Hive Guard.  The Bomb squigs are getting their basing treatment but are otherwise finished.  Time to go delve into the new book!
