Here are the dry fits off the spot light housings. I think that they'll look fine when painted and should not require a diffusing lens cover to achieve the spot effect.
I've started the filling and sculpting to finish all of the roughed in areas now that I know how the harness will fit into the model. The next block of work will be on finishing the greenstuff and primer/base coating the subassemblies.
So...I grossly miscalculated the battery life expectancy. At about 6 hours there was some noticeable reduction in the quality of the light but the system, at last check, was still going after 12 hours. I think swapping to the AA configuration will push back the loss of quality into the 12 hour area.
ReplyDeleteThe white spots are throwing nice circles at a useful range so I'm looking forward to the next phase. Skipping to phase 4 for a bit as I need to get the model into its final dimensions before confirming the display base design.
I had to stop the stress test after 20 hours. The lights were still running though at a much reduced brilliance.
